‘Beyond Taboos’

HIV prevalence in India is about 0.2% and yet remains taboo in many sections of the population. Also, the prevailing negativity around the people is undeniably making the affected group of society socially unacceptable.

HIV stigma and discrimination affect the emotional well-being of people living with it, and they end up developing a negative self-image of themselves.

OYE – Organization for Youth and Elderly took the initiative of spending a day at The Desire Society – a non-profit voluntary organization that provides a home for the girls affected with HIV.

They also distributed educational materials to them thus spreading the message that life is not what others think of us but about what we make of it.
